After more than 70 years of operation without repair, the apartment building at Prague's Ořechovka was dilapidated and required an overall renovation. Our intention was to retain the maximum of the original features, such as the main staircase of stoneware steps including the railing, metal windows and terrazzo. In the apartments, we have managed to save the original wooden window linings, etched glass doors, as well as the wooden floors. On the other hand, all pipings and wirings had to be replaced by new ones. We have retained the original division of the house into four apartments while increasing the size of the basement apartment and especially of the originally extremely small attic apartment. We have connected the apartment with the attic, added two patios, increased its footage and refurbished it. The two main apartments located on the ground floor and on the first floor have been changed only minimally. We have added an extra bathroom and refurbished the existing bathroom, built new kitchens and added new balconies.
